How to Place a Live Bet

Betting while the match is on, without chasing every swing

A live bet is placed while the match is in progress. Open a live match on Powerplay247, choose a market, tap a price and confirm your stake. Odds update with every ball or attack, there can be a short delay before the bet is accepted, and markets pause during big moments. Check the final matched price on your open bet.

01

What is live betting?

Live betting, also called in-play betting, means placing bets after the event has started. Cricket and football have the most live markets on Powerplay247, and tennis is close behind. Prices update continuously, so a team trading at 2.50 before the start can be 1.40 after a strong opening.

02

Why is there a delay on live bets?

Most in-play markets hold a bet for a few seconds before accepting it. TV and streaming feeds run behind the real action, and the delay stops anyone betting on a wicket or goal they have already seen. If the price moves during the delay, the bet may be matched at the new price, partly matched or not matched at all.

03

Why do live markets get suspended?

Markets pause during moments that change the odds sharply: a wicket, a review, a penalty, a red card or a goal. You cannot place bets while a market is suspended. Once the price is recalculated, betting reopens, usually within seconds.

04

What is cash out and when should you use it?

On markets that offer it, cash out lets you close a bet before the result for a set amount. If your team is winning, the offer is higher than your stake but lower than the full win. If they are losing, it is less than your stake.

Cash out is useful when your reason for the bet has changed, such as an injury to a key player. Using it on every bet just locks in a smaller average return.

05

How do you keep live betting under control?

Live betting feels urgent because the price changes in front of you. That urgency is the main risk. Decide before the match which situations you will bet on and how much, and ignore everything else.

  • Write down the situations you will bet on
  • Use the same stake for every live bet
  • Stop after a set number of live bets per match
  • Never add a bet to win back the last one

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

4 questions

Why did my live bet get rejected?

The price probably moved during the delay, or the market was suspended. Refresh the market and try again at the current odds if you still want the bet.

Can I watch the match on Powerplay247 while betting?

Some events show live scores or a match tracker in the market. Streaming depends on the event, so check the match page.

Is live betting riskier than pre-match betting?

The odds work the same way, but decisions are faster and easier to repeat. That is why a fixed plan and stake matter more in-play.

Can I cash out every live bet?

No. Cash out is only available on some markets and can be withdrawn during suspensions. If it is offered, the amount appears on your open bet.
