Empty-net goals
Trailing teams pull their goalie late, which leads to empty-net goals. That makes the puck line on a favourite win more often than the scoreline at 50 minutes suggests.

What is the puck line in ice hockey betting?
The puck line is a handicap, usually 1.5 goals. The favourite at -1.5 must win by two or more goals, and the underdog at +1.5 wins the bet if they win or lose by one.
Does overtime count in hockey bets?
The money line and puck line include overtime and shootouts unless the market says regulation time. The 60-minute result market settles after regulation only.
When are NHL games played in Indian time?
Most NHL games start between about 4:30 AM and 8:30 AM IST, so live markets are busiest in the Indian morning.
Can I bet on individual periods?
